Dear Parents/Guardians,
A student in your child’s school has a significant medical issue. It is very important for this student to avoid contact with others who may be ill, as it is more difficult for him/her to fight off infections. We ask that you please notify the school nurse if your child experiences chicken pox, shingles or any other contagious disease.
As it is now flu season and students will be getting vaccinated, we also ask that you notify the nurse if your child receives the nasal mist flu vaccination. This vaccine is a live virus and can be very harmful to a student with a medical fragile condition.
Here are some helpful hints to keep you and your family healthy during the flu season:
· Practice good hand hygiene: Washing your hands with soap and water or an alcohol based rub, especially after sneezing, can prevent the spread of germs.
· Practice respiratory etiquette: The flu is mainly spread by droplets produced by coughing or sneezing. Always remember to cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue. If a tissue is not available, use your elbow or shoulder, NOT your hands.
· Staying home when you’re sick: By staying home, you are keeping the virus to yourself rather than sharing it with others
Thank you for helping keep our entire school as healthy as possible.
